Mapping out a plan
When I took on this design project for theRPG UI, I knew it would be a balancing act to have the UI be visually represent the game, but function properly for the user.
As the main designer of the teamtook initiative to gather as much info of the project and understand what playerswould expect when interacting with the game.
The Final Product
3-4 week into the project working with thedeveloper, with critiques and severalmock-ups, I was able to narrow the design what the developer needed for the final UI design.
I use an interface metaphor of an "information board" commonly used to display information for the public. By having it design this way, it gives the user, a hint without much explanation.
